Vodafone Warriors

The New Zealand Warriors are a professional rugby league football club based in AucklandNew Zealand. They compete in the National Rugby League (NRL) premiership and are the only team from outside Australia. Coached by Ivan Cleary and captained by Simon Mannering, the Warriors are based at Mt Smart Stadium in the southern Auckland suburb of Penrose.
For the 1995 season the newly-formed Auckland Warriors became the first off-shore club to be admitted to the Australian Rugby League's premiership when it expanded to twenty teams. As a result of the mid-1990s' Super League war, Auckland left the ARL to compete in the Super League competition of 1997, before joining the re-unified NRL the following year. They re-branded themselves the New Zealand Warriors in 2001. Over sixteen seasons the Warriors have reached one grand final and claimed one minor premiership (both in 2002), reached the play-offs 6 times, and provided the majority of the New Zealand national team's players.

Kidz First Auckland trip

After Kidz First Charity Golf Day the Vodafone Warriors visited Kidz First Children’s Hospital in South Auckland to provide a boost for the many children under the care of the hospital. The visit was a great opportunity for the players to spread some cheer to some young and less fortunate fans and allowed them to take their minds off of football leading into the beginning of a busy season.
Charity Golf Day to Benefit Kidz First Children's Hospital
The team took part in a round of golf to benefit the Kidz First Children's Hospital. A total of 28 teams consisting of many of the Vodafone Warriors sponsors and corporate members played at the Titirangi Golf Club, with most teams including player from the Vodafone Warriors. Along with the golf tournament, an auction for memorabilia and items donated by sponsors was held. Among the items auctioned were signed jerseys worn by past Vodafone Warriors Steve Price and Ruben Wiki in their milestone 300th NRL games.

Vodafone Warriors CEO Wayne Scurrah and Newcastle Knights CEO Steve Burraston came together to schedule a match between their two sides in the wake of November’s Pike River mining tragedy. The game was supported by the NRL and NZRL with proceeds going to the mining relief fund and the West Coast Rugby League. The team spent four days in Greymouth making appearances for autograph signings and pictures. The players took part in a breakfast for the families of miners who were lost, a kids' carnival at the Suburbs club and Waitangi Day celebrations.

keeping New Zealand Clean and Green

Waste Friendly

Litter-free places are healthy places. Waste is hazardous if disposed of incorrectly and can attract pests and disease. Reduce the amount of waste you make and dispose of it responsibly.

Don't litter

  • Always put all your rubbish in the bin provided, or take it away with you when you leave

Reuse and recycle

  • Reuse plastic bags or try not to use them at all
  • Seek out recycling centres for paper, glass, plastic and cans
  • Ask your local i-SITE for the nearest recycling station
  • Reuse your water bottles

    Water Friendly

Lakes, rivers, beaches and harbours are our treasures and also the habitat of many plants, fish and bird species. When enjoying our waterways, please be sure to keep them free of rubbish, spills and introduced species, so that they can be enjoyed by generations to come. You can help by:
    • Washing your gear between waterways to prevent the spread of unwanted pests like didymo (freshwater algae)
Water is a precious resource, and many New Zealand towns and cities experience water shortages during the summer months. You can help by:
    • Using water sparingly
    • Taking shorter showers

    Energy Friendly

Using less energy helps reduce the amount of greenhouse gases in our air. This is because less fossil fuels are being burnt to produce electricity. You can help by:
    • Switching off your electrical equipment when not in use
    • Turning off the lights when you leave the room
    • Asking tourism operators about their environmentally friendly practices

    Travel Friendly

Around 20 percent of New Zealand's greenhouse gas emissions come from transport. You can help reduce this and save fuel by:
    • Walking and cycling instead of driving
    • Using public transport
    • Reducing your speed on the open road
    • Switching off your engine when stopped
    • Choosing to buy or hire a fuel-efficient vehicle
    • Offsetting your emissions by buying individual carbon credits.

    Travel safely

    • New Zealand's weather changes rapidly, so be prepared
    • Tell someone where you are going and when you plan to return
    • Be firewise—observe fire bans and always check before lighting fires
    • Ask your local Department of Conservation visitor centre or i-SITE for safety information and advice

Internet Safety

• Approximately one in seven youth online (10 to 17-years-old) received a sexual solicitation or approach over the Internet.
• Four percent (4%) received an aggressive sexual solicitation – a solicitor who asked to meet them somewhere; called them on the telephone; or sent them offline mail, money, or gifts.
• Thirty-four percent (34%) had an unwanted exposure to sexual material — pictures of naked people or people having sex.
• Twenty-seven percent (27%) of the youth who encountered unwanted sexual material told a parent or guardian. If the encounter was defined as distressing – episodes that made them feel very upset or afraid – forty-two percent (42%) told a parent or guardian.
• Two out of five missing children, between the ages of 14 and 17, are missing due to internet activity (Still verifying this one
